Testing Spirits

1 John 4:1

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Isaiah 28:10

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Anything you allow into your life will shape who and what you become.  If you feed on the Word of God, nothing can come of it but the fruits of the spirit of God in your life.  If you feed on the world and the things of the world you will become like the world.

~1 John 2:15-17

15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

With all the books, movies and entertainment in the world, we need to be able to discern what we should be opening ourselves up to and allowing in our lives.  There are so many “so called” christian books, christian music, christian movies and everything else labeled as “christian” that many people purchase just for the sake of it being labeled so.

We need to do research on ANYTHING we allow into our lives.  If you think there is a book you are interested in reading, do some research on the author before you open yourself up to allowing into your life the kind of atmosphere that book will bring and the same thing goes for music and movies.  There are so many musicians that claim to be christian buy yet their lives do not line up to it and their music does not either.  We must test EVERYTHING that we come across because we could be opening ourselves up to demonic control and evil spirits.  If you listen to music that is inspired by God, you allow God to bless you and you can feel the Holy Spirit in it-it has to be HOLY because God is Holy and the same goes for worldly music-it is not inspired of God but of the devil.

I used to listen to many “christian” bands just for the sake of them calling themselves so.  When i finally did some research on each one of the musicians i listened to i was quite shocked at some of the things i read about the musicians and what they stood for.  Christian rock is not Christian – rock is rock all the same.  Christian rock is a tool and a doorway used by the devil to open yourself up to listening to other things that are not of God – if you actually listened to only the music without the words you would not be able to tell apart the tune from worldly music.

It is imperative that we tests the spirits to see whether they are of God or of that wicked one that will lead us away from God.
